Cloud Ray is a musician and rapper from Middlesex, New Jersey who primarily works within the genres of hip-hop and pop. With 3 singles and an EP under his belt, he was seen touring the US in 2023. He is self-admittedly influenced by artists like J.Cole, Kanye West, Black Eyed Peas and Nicki Minaj and these influences are evident in his latest 2024 single “Drip” featuring rapper Tati Dior.

“Drip” has a really interesting sonic palette that gives off early 2010s pop music vibes and evokes a sense of nostalgia while feeling like a reference and not a replica. The percussion primarily makes use of EDM beats, but the influence of afrobeat drums on it is evident. The overall club banger is extremely well produced! It doesn’t ever go too hard, but understands and plays with energy levels efficiently.

Cloud Ray brings his A1 rap game although his Sean-Paul-esque vocal inflections remain the highlight of his performance. Tati Dior has a rap persona and delivery style influenced by artists like Nicki Minaj that goes well along with the 2010s hi-hat build up on the chorus. She gives a feisty and powerful rap performance that is at once boastful and campy.
