Shyfrin Alliance is the brain child of Eduard Shyrfin, a classically trained pianist whose passion for music stuck with him while he successfully explored the fields of mathematic, physics, writing and business. He brings together a musical ensemble on the project and explores the genres of rock and blues. “Unconditional”, the band’s second single on Spotify explores love, absence and unison.
The first thing that strikes a listener about “Unconditional” is the voice of Lizzy Parks that is smooth, classic and makes you feel like you are enjoying wine in Paris. Her vocal performance is brimming with longing and adds a great deal of emotion to the single. The other deep male voice on the single performs spoken word that stands in juxtaposition to the strings in the background that work towards an uninterrupted sense of flow.
The smooth Saxophone was one of my favourite elements on the single as it adds a sense of classic grandeur, taking a listener back to the 20th century. The climatic strings were quite enjoyable and while the keys and the percussion are light, they hold the track together and serve as its backbone.
Lyrically the track, as its title suggests explores the unconditionality of love. It is the narrative of a person looking back at unconditional love from a place of absence or the lack of it. The male and female voice are reminiscing about same memories which is endearing, but it isn’t revealed until the end of the track whether they are in conversation with each other. The voices remain separate entities until the last chorus is sung in unison and collaboration.
