Mikhaelize is a writer and poet who has started releasing music fairly recently. He is self-admittedly influenced deeply by energies and writes on a variety of themes. He has started releasing his own music fairly recently and while his debut single has multiple renditions “ELLE ÉTAIT L’OCÉAN” is his second and latest single.
“ELLE ÉTAIT L’OCÉAN” means “She Was The Ocean” in French and the title is appropriate because the track’s biggest strength is the ambience it is able to set up. The oceanic element is strong and the song can easily be played on a leisurely day at the beach. The grandeur reminds the listener of a celebration. The instrumentation is upbeat and there is an overall sense of cheer in the air. The strings are kept short which carry forward a lot of the sense of rhythm on the track. The percussion however, is light and simple.
I wish a little more attention was paid to the mixing as all the elements on the track have the same intensity and a little bit of variation in the instrumentation would have really enhanced the track in my opinion. There is sense of community on the track because of the way the vocals are layered that I personally really enjoyed. The lead vocalist has a roughness and ruggedness to his voice that really suits the melody. This is complemented by the many voices that are layered on top that create the environment of a choir.
