The Mutilations are a three piece garage rock band from California with a classic sound. That might sound a tad unoriginal, but they are nothing if not full of sonic innovation. The band’s interpretation of the genre is inspired and far-reaching; especially in their latest release, Death on the Beach. The track alternates between sublime surreality and distortion rock, beautifully executed, both conceptually and sonically. With a whole lot of blues and neo-funk glazed with Latin pop, and broken up by rock, it fathoms the perfect summer feel and haunts it, but just a little bit. Listen Now!
The track opens with glassy acoustics, accentuated with tropical notes and a breezy rhythm. Sailing through this pastel town of sunny melodies is warm baritones, effervescing against a backdrop of retro blues riffs and funk lifts. The Mutilations are Eric Escobedo, Darian Costa, and Jordan Macapagal. They debuted in 2018 with their album, ‘Somebody Kill Me Please, Lol’ and has since released four tracks that comprehensively define their intellectualized musical aesthetic and style.
The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
