Alt-pop artist Aleksandra Picariello releases a genre-fusing, emotional masterpiece, ‘Don’t Fly Away’.
There’s so much to like and resonate with in this track. From Aleksandra’s soulful Adele-like crooning vocals to the track flipping on its head and turning into a Flypside-like rap track. This is an artist who wears her heart on her sleeve and brings her versatility to another level in ‘Don’t Fly Away’
The track opens quite cinematically with intriguing atmospherics. Enter Aleksandra’s tender vocals, confessionally sharing deepest emotions. The track suddenly feels tropical, but just for an instant. We rise on the wings of a soaring violin melody, with the vocals pleading ‘Don’t leave me this way’. Then outta nowhere, she transforms in a wicked rap flow, it feels like a totally different personality. Compelling lyrics flowing on gripping beats and subtle effects. Suddenly, we’re back to soaring and grooving to the starting melody, but only briefly. Back into the gritty rap flow, it features some slick sounds, her voice honest and balanced.
This back-and-forth flow is quite brilliantly managed and produced. Towards its conclusion, we’re dancing along to jazzy horns and tropical beats before Aleksandra leaves us in a lurch with her final lines, ‘Can’t you see….. that I’ve been mind-fucked’?
‘Aleksandra Picariello – Don’t Fly Away’ is a track that leaves you a bit spellbound in its wake. Its engaging, unpredictable, and flawlessly composed and executed. We love what we’ve just heard from this up-and-coming, versatile musician, and eagerly look forward to going through her ever-growing collection of tracks.
