Amy-Lin Slezak’s latest folksy, country-pop opus ‘Known 3 Yrs. Seen 24 Hrs.’ is an intriguing, two-step-inducing, jolly good time!

The opening notes are warm and inviting, lengthened guitar notes with soulful strums. Enter Amy-Lin’s plucky, enthusiastic vocals. She’s singing about the regret stemming from digging up the past, opening up those long-forgotten memories, and the slew of emotions that come along with that. The opus moves forward with purpose, each line sung with some emotional depth, backed by equally captivating country rock instrumentation.

The lyrics are a whimsical, no-holds-barred take on her past relationships and how they didn’t turn out anything like she expected. But hey, now in hindsight, it hilariously makes sense. It’s the kind of conversation you’d have with your closest allies at a noisy bar over several pitchers of margaritas! The lyrics is tinged with a little longing & sadness but move ahead with the steadfast belief that it’s all going to be all right in the end!

The instrumentation is lively and feels beautifully improvised and arranged, in true country-pop style with soaring harmonies. The addition of fine violins gives this track depth and personality. A standout moment is just after the 3-minute mark, where the track holds its wavering note a few fragile, beautiful seconds before launching into an immersive, euphoric section, firing at full tilt, along with Amy’s vocals bringing it to a crescendo before gradually and gently slowing to a stop with the vocals having the last word.

‘Amy-Lin Slezak – Known 3 Yrs. Seen 24 Hrs.’ is an entertaining, adult-friendly country pop-rock track; it’s one to hear with a pinch of salt and maybe a glass of something strong on the side.
