Blu Angelo is a young Belgian artist, new to the music scene and just eighteen years old! He blends the genres of hip-hop and hyper pop to create a futuristic sonic universe filled with fantasy. “X Franklin Siant X” is the first track from his debut EP “Futuriste Comme Sorayama”.
The track starts off slowly with heartbeat-like percussion along with claps setting the base. The beat is heavy as the bass and snare dominate the beat-drops. The sonic palette is reminiscent of mid 2010 hyper pop that has a highly electronic ambience.
Blu Angelo’s vocals are autotuned and allowed to take the centre stage. The rap cadence that he assumes more boldly from the second verse onwards makes us witness him in his element. He switches flow seamlessly and the verses stand in juxtaposition to the chorus and bridge that are rather melodious, smooth and catchy.
Lyrically that song is quite political and filled with stories from Blu Angelo’s life. Blu Angelo speaks about how his life experiences have hardened him and his encounters with law enforcement have been unjust. This has made him unreliable and armed in the case of danger. Like most rap tracks, “X Franklin Saint X” too has bars about diamonds and wealth. The song is also inundated with biblical references such as “Judas” and “Preaching” along with mythical references to “Vampires”. The title of the track might be a reference to one of the main characters on the FX show Snowfall.
