Dive into CARUS’s dazzling, evocative dance-pop debut release, ‘Wisch Wisch’.
Laden with atmospheric synths, infectious pop rock grooves and theatrical, thought-provoking vocals & resounding emotional core, listening to this feels like a magical collab between Daft Punk, Air and Dido!
The multi-dimensional artist, actress, singer, and composer Clauia Carus brings together a stellar team of producers Bernhard Hammer (Elektro Guzzi, Buenoventura) and Julian Hruza (Julian und der Fux, Maraskino) on to craft her upcoming debut album “Alles Glitzer Glitzer,” which includes this sublime single, ‘Wisch Wisch’.
CARUS invites listeners through an immersive, moody soundscape from its opening. Dark, melancholy harmonies flow alongside crashing beats and Claudia’s vocals, direct, conversational, and oozing panache and personality.
The lyrics are a defiant, direct dialogue on the curse of the Wisch ‘swiping culture’ and how its eaten up into our attention spans. Its a wakeup call for the overstimulated, numb and weary. Carus questions the cost we pay by being slaves to our digital devices and how it’s impacted the way we now seek love, friendship and relationships but yet remain mostly in isolation.
As the track gathers momentum gradually, escalating to the euphoric, ethereal chorus with Claudia’s angelic, layered cries of, ‘Wisch, Wisch’, transcendent harmonies amidst compelling basslines and drumbeats.
Musically, its a masterpiece in composition and speaks volumes to the group’s intricate sound design and production. The track flows at an intense, immersive rhythm. That mirrored further with the haunting, deliberate vocals, each of her words carrying a message, an appeal for self-inquiry.
You must see the rebelliously punk artistic theatrical performance in the accompanying music video – CARUS – Wisch Wisch (Offizielles Musikvideo)
And that’s the direction CARUS explores further in their forthcoming album. We’ve loved what we’ve heard with ‘Wisch, Wisch’, a stunning debut track that’s illuminating, sonically brilliant and thought-provoking. This is a group that captivates your attention; we aren’t Wisch-ing on Carus for sure!
