‘Collaborations – You Gotta Know’ is a shining example of a folk-pop track created by a mutually inspired, experienced troupe of musicians, feeding off each other’s sincerest energies & intentions. You Gotta Listen to This!

Keeping the evergreen, classic indie rock vibes alive and kicking is Collaborations, a group created by Ed Daniels at the Horizon Studio. Its purpose is to bring together a diverse range of musicians to create music that’s about reviving the immersive, evocative soft rock sound of the 60s/70s (Think – America, Alan Parsons, and The Association) with a modern soul. Beautifully orchestrated vocal and instrumental arrangements without the use of any synthetic effects or programming.

‘You Gotta Know’ is the latest track release from their ‘Songs Of The Heart’ album. That name couldn’t be more apt for describing how this song feels to the listener. The track opens with soulful, reflective instrumentation that sets the mind at ease like a warm cup of tea. Soft backing vocals set the tone for lead vocalist Anais Preller. She sings soulfully, ‘Sittin wondering why the world spins this way, Got me thinking more and more every day….’, inviting the listener into a space of calm, relaxed reflection. That’s the essence of this track, as the name ‘You Gotta Know’ suggests; the lyrics (co-written by Daniels & Preller) gently ask the listener to wake up and see the world for what it is right now and claim their power.

As the arrangement progresses, we’re treated to timeless moments of artistry. The symphony created between the instruments is magically finessed. It’s the kind you rarely feel in music these days. Led by producer Vic Steffens and orchestrator Matt Oestreicher, the arrangement moves with Rolls-Royce-like refinement and purpose. On bass, Grammy winner Scott Spray holds the rhythm fantastically. Tim Dehuff’s guitar playing is expressive and evocative, matching the vocal melodies with ease while fluidly creating these pockets of magic. Drummer Tom Naggy brings a polished, steady beat.

Last but certainly not least are the standout, breathtaking vocals from Anais Preller. She delivers with warmth subtly balanced with intensity. Her vocal range is remarkable, keeping in line with the song’s melodic structure. She throws in a mesmerizing vibrato for good measure, elevating the listening experience manyfold. Backing her impressively is the backing vocals team of Kevin Monroe, Simone Brown, and the Devotion team.

‘Collaborations – You Gotta Know’ is a track for the ages. It highlights everything we love about this age’s constantly evolving music scene and is a timely reminder of the potential of music created with soul, heart & intention.
