Congenial Crime is a rock band with a deep reservoir of melancholy. And this three-piece outfit is unafraid to delve into the rich velvety darkness of it. Blending hard rock with indie and soul styles, their canvases are laden with a sonic abundance that is reminiscent of a blend between Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys. Chasing is one of Congenial Crime ‘s latest releases. With its roaring bass lines and hard riff breaks coated with fresh warmth of the expressive vocals, the song is a terrific song choice to enjoy solitude with.

The track is nihilistic rock poetry. Everything from its design, composition, and delivery drips with a painful hopelessness. A swirling mosaic of riffs, basslines, and melodies form a pensive pool out of which the blue fire of the vocals erupt. Mounting to high emotional peaks, Scottie’s voice carries the experience of the theme, as it rises through thick layers of sound. It is cathartic, tragic, and liberating.

Congenial Crime is led by vocalist and guitarist, Scottie Sacra, with Brett Fincham on the bass and additional vocals, and Cam Arbogast on the drums. Hailing from Charlottesville, Virginia, the band debuted in 2023 and has already released four tracks.
