‘You Will Wait’ by Darren Troy Jenkins is an enthralling, cinematic opus based off mythology’s most haunting tragedies.
The NYC-based composer/screenwriter has an exciting project in the works. The concept is this: bring alive ancient mythology through the lens of modern cinema and sound. ‘You Will Wait’ is taken from his full-length, cinematic score album, titled ‘Apollo and Hyacinthus – The Blood of Olympus’.
The album serves as the score for his upcoming feature film, set in Somerset, that reimagines the story of the sun god, Apollo, as he navigates the complexities of divinity and his forbidden love for the mortal prince, Hyacinthus. As you would with such divine source material, the score exudes a divine, larger-than-mortal life-kind of feel, soft vocal harmonies that ebb and flow patiently along to grand orchestral arrangements with immersive symphonic depth.
Darren opts for a unique “one-stop” production approach, where he has already created the entire screenplay for this film and supporting cinematic score to ensure a seamless, immersive experience. Think Fifty Shades meets Gods of Olympus.
‘You Will Wait’ opens onto angelic vocals, heavenly atmospherics, and a stripped-down click beat. The vocals, soft and sultry, narrate the reimagined story in graceful tones. Subtly deep basslines hit, and the track deepens in tone and intensity. Cinematically produced, every word and note feels compelling; it has you listening and bobbing along intently.
It’s refreshing to come across an artist whose creative vision is crystal clear. With the global launch of this album, Darren now seeks to attract and partner with avant-garde multimedia professionals (and has already garnered interest!) who truly see and feel the gravity of this project and would like to work alongside him to bring this epic to life on the silver screen.
