Dashed to Shivers, the four-piece unit out of Münsterland (isin’t that fun to say!) in the northwestern region of Germany, delivers a turbulent yet sonically brilliant performance in, ‘Undertow’ a track that grabs you from its first fiery notes.
We open right into the fire with deafening, chaotic, intense arrangements; ominous, all-consuming riffs that lead into earth-shattering drums and basslines. It’s the kind of epic, energetic symphony that listeners of hardcore and metal live for. The track escalates, the tempo picking up pace rapidly, punctuated by short, blasting riffs.
When the vocals enter, they rage with an unhingedness, one that startles immediately. The interplay between layered vocals, one aching,and the other a crushingly deafening growl, is astounding. We roll surprisingly into a playful bridge melody, building tension and anticipation.
When the chorus arrives, its a magnificent, soaring moment of cathartic fury. Feels like an underwater volcano explosion, building up unimaginable momentum and speed as the debris covers the ocean floor with ruthless aggression and speed. While spellbinding in its sound, the arrangement is also technically tight with all the elements synchronized perfectly to deliver a scintillating listening experience.
The track moves forward with a relentless energy, blazing through its 3 min+ runtime with considerable tension throughout. Its the kind of track you listen to and go, yeah they’ve got my number. I’m locked in for this.
