David Lale is a conceptual artist and composer. There is always more than meets the eye with his soundscapes. So many layers forming, so much complexity, and multiple perspectives. It is electronica at its most inventive and unique. His ability to transfer such sophisticated visions to the language of sound is quite commendable, especially when done so well. ‘Vagus’ is a three track EP that splits into three. It is an odyssey, a journey that is composed to grant a detailed and deep exposition of the theme.
Each track enjoys arcs of staticity and dynamism. And lingering behind it is a cerebral stain that gains dimension and a sudden clarity. This carries into the next phase, elevating it in ways that are so elegant.
‘Vagus I’ opens the collection with its cryptic, suggestive drone. With ethereal synths and cello swipes create a sentimental atmosphere, something that seems both otherworldly and innate. It is intricate and detailed, carved out with so much emotion and an enigmatic sense. The best way to enjoy this series is to visualise it, watch it play out like a movie. It proves to be quite fantastic. Listen Now!
