Echomatica dial up the coolness with their latest dreamy single, ‘Month of Sundays’.
The four piece indietronica/dream-pop group out of Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland have had a great 2025. Racking up the releases as part of their eponymous debut album.
‘Month of Sundays’ is a rip roaring, infectiously upbeat, immersive track that highlights Echomatica’s best pop rock qualities. We open onto distant, faded-out beats and echoes of rhythm guitars in an intriguing groove. It then explodes in glorious, full-bodied life! The swelling rock arrangements wash over you like a wave, engulfing one in their oh-so pleasing, distortion-laden sound.
That’s just the first 30 seconds! Leading into the soft, conversational opening lines, ‘How does it feel to be so young?’ The vocalist brings a fresh yet tender energy to the opus with her quietly gripping, wispy voice. In sublime contrast to the commanding, confident rhythms and crashing drums.
The lyrics are a poignant, playful introspection on the vibrancy of youth and aliveness. Not in a preachy, flashy way. But rather in a warm, supportive one, kind of like speaking easily with an old friend.
The track flows from laidback verses to evocotive choruses with such ease and personality. The track’s title hook, ‘Month of Sundays’ are sung with a beautiful carefree spirit accompanied by liberatingly headbang-worthy riffs. Over the track’s close to 4 minute runtime, they firmly establish their confident, pleasing dreamtronica sound.
Accopanying this, is a fun, stimulating, colourful, claymation-centred music video that tells a cute, if not slightly unhinged tale! Check it out HERE!
We absolutely love the fresh, summer-y vibe that Echomatica brings with their latest release and look forward to diving into their other tracks, fresh from their debut album.
