Dive into Echomatica’s ethereal, immersive, indietronica/dream-pop opus ‘Something’.
Listening to this feels like taking a spontaneous, wonderful adventure with your closest friends and captures those magical, heartwarming moments of joy, wonder and connection.
The Auckland-based 4-piece indietronica/dream-pop band blends guitar-centric soundscapes with intimate vocals, a dark indie pop sound, and immersive arrangements, dare we say they do that really well!
‘Something’ opens with soulful strums and enveloping synth harmonies. Briefly, it reminded the listener of the opening to the iconic CCR number, ‘Have You Seen The Rain.’ It’s got a similar uplifting energy that evokes a sense of curiosity and wonder.
The opening lines are sung with soft tenderness and intimacy, confessing a state of mindlessness. The lyrics dive into that most core of human needs, connection with another. The vocals evoke deep vulnerability and a hopelessness that all leads to the chorus.
The chorus plunges us into a synth-laden, deeply emotional section, with the vocals finding the words to express the importance of this connection. The instrumentation speaks louder, immersing you into their magnetic, contemplative sound.
Echomatica creates a warm, evocative soundscape that never feels heavy or overwhelming. Instead, they combine the best aspects of acoustic folk rock and retro-synth pop for listeners to joyfully immerse into.
Gearing up for their debut album release next month, ‘Something’ is a wonderful introduction to signature mix of atmospheric wonder and emotional honesty. We’re in love in what we’re heard from this talented four piece and look forward to floating away blissfully to ‘Something’.
