Fachy, also known as Andrew Facciolo is a singer-songwriter from Toronto, currently based in Vancouver, Canada. He has been producing original music since the age of 12 and released three original singles in 2020. He has performed live solo shows and put up performances with Moving City, the indie rock band he co-created. Fachy is gearing up for the release of his upcoming full-length album in 2024 and in anticipation of his new body of work, it only makes sense to revisit his 2020 single “I Can’t Lie”!
Instrumentally “I Can’t Lie” keeps it very simple, with only strings going towards its production. The guitars have a country-like tone to them and the soft yet quick strums on it leads us toward a hopeful journey. I liked the use of different string instruments, each with their own ethereal elements coming together in an elegant manner. The production plays with pauses so that the very fast strumming does not get monotonous.
Fachy gives an impressive vocal performance. His voice has a twang to it, which when combined with the whisper-ey ambience and strong accent he is going for produce a really soft and romantic feeling. He uses the rough edges of his vocals to his advantage and charms us with his songwriting.
The lyrics explores the intense feelings of attraction when meeting someone to the extent that it feels like you have known each other for long. It is confession of love that promises to be there for loved ones when they are lonely; a confession of love that has been arrived at following the path of honesty.
