FADED unveils trippy, immersive alt-rock track, ‘Who We Are’!

Imagine if U2, Radiohead & Porcupine Tree came together for a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration! That’s kind of sublime, stirring, and reflective prog rock experience the four-piece Brit/Scot group delivers with ‘Who We Are’. An evocative reflection on how music, books, and films shape who we become.

We open onto an intriguing, uplifting piano melody and the echoing vocals, singing, ‘These books, they make us who we are, so dark, so light…..’. The arrangements explode into life, a captivating harmony of guitars, drums, bass, backing vocals, and atmospherics. There’s a clear reason why we’ve compared them to some of the best ever to do it.

As mentioned, the lyrics are an open-ended reflection on how the information we consume shapes us. It’s an invitation to really pay attention to what it is you learn, inspire, and learn from. And if it’s anything like FADED’s sublime, sonically brilliant music, you’re in the right space, definitely.

FADED plays with a stunning confidence, panache, and personality. As the track progresses, we move into more cosmic territory, waves of distortion layered brilliantly amongst the other sounds. We particularly enjoyed the second half of the track, just past the three-minute mark. The track elevates into truly psychedelic territory.

‘Who We Are’ serves as a fitting closing track to their latest album release by the same name. It’s intelligently composed, arranged, and produced, delivering an excellent, immersive, reflective alt-rock soundscape that’s sure to be one of the standout prog rock tracks of the year.

FADED is a gem of a find, and we’re all much happier to have been introduced to this joyously eclectic, genre-defying outfit.
