Brace yourselves, ‘Glass Rumours – Ray Gun’ is an electrifying, immersive pop-rock opus that hits out hard with a rage against the machines!

Their latest release, ‘Ray Gun,’ is a drastic change in tone of voice from their previous single, ‘Still Dancing Tonight,’ a feel-good pop-rock number about celebrating your life. Glass Rumours don’t hold back in this ominous, hard-hitting rock song about the tightrope we’re currently walking as a species regarding our relationship with ever-evolving AI technology.

Storming right out of the gates, we’re met with rapid drum beats and thundering guitar riffs that grab our attention by force. This feels right on the edge between hard rock and metal in its sheer intensity and precision. This feels like the soundtrack to an apocalyptic event, and that’s exactly the message they want us to realize about the state of affairs right now. Think Disturbed or Foo Fighters.

Gemma’s commanding, soaring vocals ring out loud as she sings about a person who had her trust broken, specifically how she trusted an AI program with her darkest secrets and it came back to haunt her. As she sings repeatedly in the chorus, ‘Shot me down with a ray gun, AI!’. It’s irresistibly catchy and relevant to the global, AI-related existential fears running through everyone’s mind these days. The twist in the tale is that she comes back from the afterlife as an AI program herself! Hinting at the ever-dwindling line in our present reality between what’s real and what is AI-created.

The rest of the track moves at a rapid tempo with pulsing beats and electronic effects to give you a futuristic feel. The production quality is excellent with its dramatic turns, immersive arrangements, and the use of unique vocal layering and effects. Rarely these days do we see music that tackles heavy, real-world issues in unique ways that get you really thinking while also being infectiously good listening material. With ‘Ray Gun’ Glass Rumours dives headfirst into creating thrilling visual imagery through their music. This track would feel right at home as a soundtrack to any upcoming sci-fi action movies or tv shows.

Can you believe this track was created remotely, with the vocalist Gemma recording her vocals on a cruise ship while her bandmate Paul does the rest from his home studio?! As the second single from their ongoing ‘Tsunami Release’, there’s a lot more new music to look forward to from Glass Rumours. They’re rapidly forging a reputation for creating powerful, engaging, thought-provoking rock music.
