Atlantan rockers Last Relapse make a triumphant return with latest release, ‘Everyone Dances Outside of Their Bodies’!
Emerging strong after a nearly decade-and-a-half hiatus, the four-piece indie rock outfit is back to doing what they do best. Crafting raw, evocative, guitar-driven, dreamy soundscapes. A shimmering glimpse of their forthcoming EP, ‘Everyone Dances Outside of Their Bodies’ has them navigating the spaces between spaces, an eclectic reflection on identity using movement and flow as mediums.
“This song lives where contradiction becomes motion,” the band says. “It’s the moment you notice your inner mirror—two forces pulling in opposite directions—and you learn to move with both.”
We start with somber guitar strums and a building rhythmic drumbeat. Nonchalantly reflective vocals enter, stating, ‘ “The room was open but it looked like there was something pressing on all of you / The room looked nice, a well decorated vacuum.”
As the track progresses, it builds intensity and anticipation brilliantly, Porcupine Tree-esque in emotional depth in transition. The vocals ring with anguished indifference, conveying provoking visual imagery. The following breakdown is feverish and has the arrangements come together in cathartic, sonic release.
As the lyrics invite more reflection, the soundscapes twist and turn majestically, keeping you thoroughly engaged in this opus’s unraveling. Past the three min mark, we’re treated to a sublime guitar solo that delightfully catches you ff guard. It rockets the track to higher atmospheric levels, gripping and captivating in equal measures.
‘Everyone Dances Outside of Their Bodies’ concludes with a strong, title-quoting declaration, looping through to emphasize the point before gently fading out. One of the stand out indie rock tracks we’re heard in 2025! Last Relapse is a group to watch out for.
