The UK & Shanghai-based teenage singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Lilia Asha, delivers a compelling vocal performance in ‘Gaslighted,’ a track that seeks to rebuke and expose the lies, control and manipulation endured for the sake of love. Built upon somber minimal instrumentals and a deeply serious tone, her voice radiates genuine hurt and a bold refusal to hurt from this anymore.
The track opens with reflective piano tones before Lilia’s remarkable voice begins to unravel a gradual, disturbing, yet altogether relatable narrative. Her strong, atmospheric vocals and emotionally resonant songwriting reflect her artistic influences from the likes of established female pop vocalists such as Lana Del Rey, but it’s astonishing to see from an artist so young.
