Clock in, clock out to this honest & smooth AF rap track from Luc Patrick, ‘9-2-5’

The Mississauga-based rapper & hip-hop artist, Luc Patrick, delivers a stunning headshot to that rat race life with the release of his latest track, ‘9-2-5’.

Without missing a beat, the track opens to him smoothly laying a rap to defiance. Of living trapped in that 9-5 job and instead, he’s choosing an escape for himself to live his dreams through music. They say necessity is the mother of invention. Well, years of working a dead-end 9-5 necessitated Patrick coming up with ‘9-2-5’.

The beat is minimal and simple; the tone is one of survival and looking good while at it. The lyrical flow, catchy and real, paints a visceral picture of his life, working overtime while dreaming/plotting a way out. He’s open about facing trauma and dealing with struggles that would make others crumble. He emphasizes that he’d rather book a flight out to anywhere, make his money through his music, and chill on a beach. But he’s not there yet. Hence. he needs to go back to that ‘9-2-5’.

It’s this radical honesty paired with a relentless ambition and hustle that makes ‘9-2-5’ a great listen. This will hit home for an overwhelming majority of us who are, in some way or the other, resigned to working one or many jobs, trapped in the system, but seeking a way out.
