Sail away on this contemplative, soulful alt-rock opus from Martin Kupier, ‘Sea of Time’.

It’s a beautifully composed soundscape that invites deep reflection on just how we navigate this life, given the limited time we have, through all its ebbs and flows. As much as we may try to control it, it’s as futile as trying to control the flow of the sea.

‘Sea of Time’ opens with poignantly layered effects, the sound of the sea and a ticking clock, sonic symbolism at its finest. Soulful, melancholic arrangements flow through, creating a reflective, hypnotic mood. Martin’s vocals enter, tenacious and tender, as he sings poetically about the sea of time. The lyrics make metaphorical, whimsical references to how we all wish we had a little more time. “Sea of Time, how I long to dive in now, for a while…”

The track flows with an unhurried, assured tempo. Steady percussions, evocative strings, airy atmospeherics and crashing cymbals give this production a calming, profound, other-worldly feel. Listeners of bands like Opeth & Porcupine Tree, especially the mellower tracks, will definitely enjoy the use of soft instrumentation, one that serves to amplify the track’s core message.

At just over two and a half minutes, the track doesn’t overstay. But, in that short time, its makes a lasting impression on the listener. One of calmness and intrigue, to further ponder upon the fleeting, mystical nature of time, as we understand it.

The artist is reflecting on his own unpredictable life journey, too. Having changed several careers before launching himself into music creation at a later stage, he is surely familiar with experiencing a range of emotions of how his life has changed so much, navigating all the ups and downs.

We love what we’ve heard from this track and are excited to check the other releases off his latest album, ‘Dreaming of A Sea of Time’.
