Marvash has a way of filling the room with their music, and more importantly their musical ideas. The composer duo are musical explorers that are constantly in a state of fluidity. They go deeper and further with each release, and catalog their journey with beautiful arcs of music. That’s what you get to experience when you listen to their soundscape. The landscapes that they cross, the moments that mold the journey, the landscapes that arrest their attention, and the ones that lift their spirits. It’s everything. Their latest release is ‘Az Zagros Ta Zuiderzee’, or ‘From Zagros to Zuiderzee’ (quite literally a journey) an EP that gets into mystical lands straight from myths and fairy tales.

‘Ebb & Flow’ opens the EP, a track that is made with piano melodies, santur notes and drum fragments. In the composition, we see the ebbing moments first with the mellow and movement void frames. It is soft, minimalist, and contemplative. There’s that lull, a reprieve before it rises up, culminating in an intense jam of these three instruments, a layered flow that swings with a jazz dynamism. Compelling you to flow where as it does, covering the second part of the theme.

Marvash is an international world/jazz fusion group, led by santur player Siavash Kamkar (Teheran, IR) & drummer Martijn Soeterbroek/DrummerMartijn (Utrecht, NL).

The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
