MASHA. makes a stunning return with a strong, anthemic, pop-punk rock release, ‘Gold Guns Girls’!
The LA-based singer/songwriter and multi-dimensional artist, Masha Alexis, sheds her previous avatar and emerges like a glorious phoenix from the ashes, declaring herself as MASHA. Her latest release, ‘Gold Guns Girls’ marks her long-awaited return to the scene. Honest, unfiltered, and high octane, this is a track that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Kinda like Twenty One Pilots meets Amy Winehouse. A delicious combination of intensity, depth and control.
We open to cathartic laughter, stirring guitar riffs, and a wholly groovy opening section. Opening with panache into the opening verse, Masha sings with a sharp, strong energy. A reflection on materialistic, destructive ways, the kind that leaves you wondering, ‘Is it ever going to be enough?’ This isn’t about resilience; it’s not that level of discontent and a lived experience where nothing ever satisfies.
The lyrics speak loudly and clearly to Masha’s evolution and artistic journey. Moving toward this newest version of herself, Masha exudes an irresistible, unstoppable confidence and resolve.
Musically, the composition hits sweetly with its pop, punk, and rock infusions. Halfway in, ‘Gold Guns Girls’ builds up enigmatically, the guitar oozing emotion in its melodies. The guitar sections are some of the standouts of this track. Meanwhile, Masha builds anticipation with her urgent vocals, culminating in an excellent guitar solo. Raw, evocative, and unrestrained, its hits home with the core message that asks oh so urgently, “is it ever going to be enough?”
A stunning return track from an artist who seems to have truly hit her stride now! We’re intrigued to see what follows next.
