Drift away on the wings of this remarkable prog rock opus by Melodic Intifada, ‘Numbers’!

It isn’t too often you come across a track that feels so complete. It’s got pretty much everything you love about intelligent, brave, authentic prog rock music. Cosmic atmospherics, Pink Floyd-Esque guitar solos, gripping distortion riffs, dreamy vocals and more!

The North Carolina based trio, Melodic Intifada, are riding a strong wave of emergent, awakening consciousness, channeling their fiery soul and rebellion in their music. The result is an absolute masterpiece of a composition, ‘Numbers’, that seems to transcend time, space and boundaries with its captivating, stirring soundscape.

We open onto piercing cosmic arrangements that elevate you immediately. Crashing drums lead into a thunderous distortion riff breaking into the opening lines. Cool, echoing vocals sing soulfully. Never overpowering the arrangements, rather like a prudent spirit in the mix. It adds a fantastic depth and dimension to the track. Expansive, yet close-knit. Simultaneously. It’s a ratio that they crack brilliantly, perfectly balancing rhythm, melody and groove.

At over 5 mins, ‘Numbers’ builds patiently, and it’s definitely worth the journey. Melodic Intifada aren’t chasing trends or validation; they tune into a sacred rock energy, performing their hearts out. Halfway in, we transition stirringly into a superb solo piece. It’s one that really makes you get off your chair and air solo along to. We’re talking gods-of-guitar-level stuff here. So good.

As you emerge in a daze, the track soothes you with gentle synths and whispered vocals. It concludes cinematically and grandly, leaving you feeling that you’ve just experienced something significant. An emphatic reminder that rock music is very much alive, kicking and evolving beautifully. For a group just a year into the scene, they perform with tremendous clarity and drive.
