‘Michellar – Get me there to Church’ is an uplifting, indie folk celebration of a love finally united in holy matrimony.

We’ve reviewed quite a few of Michellar’s tracks, and every time we’re left awestruck at how sweetly she brings to life through her music beautiful moments of joy, expression, and freedom. The story behind this romantic country ballad is actually set around Michellar’s love life, where she tied the knot with her long time partner in a beautiful wedding ceremony. She seeks to recreate all those feelings they went through leading up to their special, special day. It features beautiful country strings instrumentation, uplifting yet minimal percussions (claps, tambourines and drums) and soulful tender vocals from Michellar, Helen Walford and Harrison Black.

From the very first notes, we’re transported to a simpler time and place, John Denver-esque chords immediately win our hearts. Harrison’s vocals, spoken with tender love and sincerity, create an intimate, romantic feeling as he sings to express his anticipation to marry the woman of his dreams. Helen’s voice enters and pairs beautifully as they harmonize in tandem.

The visual imagery created through the lyrics, singing of ringing church bells, vows, getting down on a knee is heart-touching and emotional. The next verse has Michellar’s vocals as she expresses her gratitude to her partner for being by her side all these years. Its pure honesty, lyrics straight from the heart. Every word is sung from a place of love, of assurance that getting married is the best possible outcome for all their years of being together.

So why not tie the knot after so many years, and getting to church is all that needs doing. I personally had this experience, and reminiscing about those times in this song just makes me write those feelings we both had at the time”
