Remember these wise words from the ever musically stellar, Michellar, ‘Never Say Sorry’

The San Fran-based pop rock artist has been supremely busy over the last year, releasing 28 singles and 1 EP and playing at weekly open mics around her. Her music is a blend of soulful, piercingly honest songwriting, evocotive pop rock harmonies and her tender vocals at the core of it.

Her latest ‘Never Say Sorry’ is a musically sublime, emotional pop rock track that emphasises the importance of standing your ground, never comprimisng on your own sense of self-esteem and respect and knowing when to let go.

We open onto stirring folk rock arrangements, layered guitars, crashing drums and Michellar’s subtle vocals ‘coos’. The opening lines are sung with an honest reproach and openness, as she converses with an ex-lover.

‘Ever since you said you cant see me
And I thought why not … we’ll be unhappy
And the reason was you’ve met somebody
That you think you love …’

She sings with incredible warmth and sincerity, truly embodying what it means to grow through lived experiences. The track’s ethereal, uplifting arrangements match this energy, making it a composition that capable of turning any bad mood around instantly.

What standsout to us is the beautiul balance between vulnerability and confidence that Michellar displays. On the one hand, she expresses a carefree elegant stance of ‘If love is meant to be, it’ll come back’ and on the other she honestly acknowledges just how difficult it’s been for her in the aftermath of their relationship.
