For all the lovers of Radiohead’s iconic ‘Let Down’, ”minus32heartbeat – let down rethink’ is a fantastic, ambient reimagination of that track, and is sure to NOT let you down. It is a result of a serendipitous collaboration between two brilliant musical minds, producer & multi-instrumentalist, minus32heartbeat(Matt Friedlander), and vocalist, slagoona. ‘let down rethink’ is a free-flowing remix of slagoona’s original cover. As such, it transforms and elevates the original in the most euphoric way.

Drawing you in from those epic first key notes, the track then embodies a fresh-sounding, uplifting electronic synth-based identity. Shimmering, pulsing, layered effects create a sense of spaciousness and weightlessness. A subtle kick beat holds the structure of the track upon which the melodies dance effortlessly. It’s a beautiful symbiosis between all the sonic elements that is hypnotizing and can be felt long after the track ends.

Slagoona’s vocals are a fantastic addition, too. Her slow, intense delivery initially sets up the chorus section so well. When she croons – ‘Let down and hanging around, Crushed like a bug in the ground, Let down and hanging around’, it’s a mesmerizing feeling, almost as if glimpsing what heaven looks like for the first time. From there, it just keeps getting better. Crescendoing higher and higher, the next verse starts with two (maybe more) layers of vocals, slagoona’s, and a robotic echo that drifts in and out.

What makes this track stand out is its mindful composition and balanced production. Nothing feels out of place or imbalanced, from the beats to the immersive synth, the airy vocals, and myriad electronic additions, it all fits snugly together. It’s an atmospheric experience. Imagine this playing while you star gaze or enjoy a moment of awe and wonder. This is your soundtrack to unwind and breathe to.
