Strap in for the latest explosive grunge rock masterpiece, ‘LCD’ from the masters of controlled hard rock chaos, Mosh Pit.

‘LCD’ (Lowest Common Denominator)” rips into a blistering hard rock teardown of the alarming polarization of the world we live in. Blind faith & devotion have led to the concentration and corruption of power in the hands of a few, while the many (the rest of us) suffer the devastating consequences. Think of SOAD’s iconic protest songs. This ranks right up there.

The track opens like there’s no tomorrow. Lightning-like guitar riffs and thundering drums blast you in the face, thrilling the listener instantly. The group exhibits great control after that thrilling start. The riffs subside briefly for the vocals to enter, sharply growling in anger about the state of affairs. There’s a simmering rage expressed here. The vocals do great to not just be subdued under the instrumentation before the guitars come back in full force.

The chorus is a section of glorious cathartic release; it had the listener looking to the skies, shaking fists in rhythm, and singing along loudly, ‘Look to your creator; you’re the lowest common denominator’. The way that phrase is stretched out gives it more intensity and invites a proper sing-along and headbang.

The sound is fresh, yet the progressions harken back to some of the best hard rock bands like SOAD, Pantera, Korn & RATM. All of whom had this distinct edge that Mosh Pit has, too. They aren’t afraid to go off track either; they throw in an interesting keyboard solo before jumping right back in the thick of things. And without warning, the chaos ends abruptly, just as it began, with whispering vocals concluding the track. Leaving you to ponder the gravity of their words and figure out who the LCDs in your life are.

‘Mosh Pit – LCD’ is a rollicking hard rock opus that’s entertaining and thought-provoking in equal measure.
