The Indianapolis-based rock group uses their thunderous, groove-laden brand of rock & roll to call out the overlord powers that be, the cruel manipulsativfe power systems and technologies being used to brainwash us, and encourage listeners to defy and refuse to relinquish free will.
Led by guitarist and songwriter Eric Winston, the group derives its name ‘Motihari Brigade’ from the birthplace of the original revolutionary of our times, George Orwell. The vocals, sung in cohesion by the group members, take scathing aim at pretty much everyone who holds power and sways public opinion for their own vested interests. Religious organizations and individuals with way too much power and unworthy influence—they all come under the Brigade’s brutal scanner. ‘The Great Refusal’ implies, nay insists, that despite all the grand plans and machinations of the status quo, we have a definite choice in the matter.
A choice to submit or to refuse. To refuse soulless AI technology that distracts us from living life truly. To refuse the misleading ‘news’ or statements of ‘responsible’ opinion, not fact, from self-appointed, self-obsessed, sanctimonious sycophants. We call them ‘influencers.’ The Brigade’s razor-sharp wit and light-hearted humor spare no one, they even take a dig at Elon Musk, labeling him an ‘Oppenheimer’ for lyrical effect.
