19-year-old multi-dimensional artist Neska Rose releases quirky alt-pop single ‘Bubbling!’, an effervescent love song for introverts!
This isn’t a track that you will get right away. And that’s okay. Neska means to catch you off guard with her wonderful weirdness, and that’s where you begin to see what she’s about. ‘Bubbling!’ is inspired by an awkward, real-life encounter she had with someone trying to coax her into sharing a hot tub session with him, which left her in a precarious dilemma. “It’s about being in love and disgusted at the same time,” she explains.
As such, she describes in eccentric detail how that played out, conveying her story with unconventional vocals and a funky sound. Kicking it off with just the most bossy jazz horns and basslines, Neska launches into her opening verse with panache and personality. You get a very likable Gwen Stefani-meets-Amy Winehouse vibe from her vocals. It’s fun, mischievous, and expressive and rides freely on a lighthearted, fluidly shifting sound. One second it’s horns, the next you get something entirely different.
The tempo and tone change as quickly as her stream of thought, making this an edge-of-your-seat listening experience. Pairing excellently is the accompanying music video (see HERE). Shot in true DIY style by her own family in a retro pinkish hue, it features Neska herself enacting that encounter in the most hilariously authentic fashion.
