‘Poor Little White Girls – oh we want to blow that little trumpet now do we?’ by Not Working People is an evocative ambient, experimental track. Its soundscape is engaging but intense, as its spoken word narration takes on what seems like an ominous, but bleak tone. 

‘Poor Little White Girls’ attempts to draw attention to something that is pressing, acute and exceptionally closer than you’d think. The dark, ambient drone as a little girl names cities all over the UK is a heavy build. 

This, while wholly unrelated, but close to bright percussion and rhythm, attempts to distract and divert. 

‘Poor Little White Girls – ‘ juxtaposes intensity with ignorance, creating what feels like a heaviness in the chest that lingers. We end the song with this close-ranged intensity that seems blatantly ignored by the voices of authority. 

“Oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now?”

Early, unsettling, but wholly familiar.
