Omer B’s latest, ‘Brighter Harmony’, is a shining, feel-good, funky pop track that will get you dancing, grooving to its vibrant harmonies.
The track brings together an eclectic group of musicians and was conceptualised and performed without too much thought but plenty of heartfelt intention. It all started with vocalist DreamsToDread sent over an idea for a song with her lyrics to Omer. From there, the journey to create ‘Brighter Harmony’ was well inflow. Omer invited backing vocalists Angela & Sinead, legendary drummer Oded Kafri and Keyboardist Abramo Riti, all of them lending invaluable contributions in addition to his own funk-infused bass and guitar work. A sure-fire recipe for a bright, fun composition!
From its first notes, ‘Brighter Harmony’ is instantly likeable, with groovy guitars & basslines, crisp drums and delightful cowbells! Yes cowbells. Enter the opening lines from DreamstoDread delivered nonchalantly yet optimistically, “Its like the sun just came out in my mind. Everything’s so much brighter now!” They convey a delightful sense of joy and upliftment sourced from something within. That’s the more lasting type of joy.
The opus blossoms into full-bodied arrangement with a warm, tropical energy, with the vocalist delightfully singing, “Dancing on the rainbow, dip my toes in the sea” It’s a beautiful expression of joy and fulfillment, again one that comes from the simple beautiful pleasures of life. At just over two and half minutes, the track doesn’t overstay its welcome, but in that short time, it creates a lasting joyful impact. This is a track you would feel compelled to re-listen.
This track is a great example of the potential of a collective when their energies and skills are aligned. The outcome? A fantastically arranged, performed and produced track that hits all the right notes and where all the elements of the track, coming from these diverse collaborators, operate in harmonious cohesion. Omer’s redefining the meaning of a band, and we’re all for it!
