‘Palm Lakes – Everything I’ve Ever Loved’ is a dreamy, warm-hearted, comforting, feel-good, synth-pop song that will make you feel warm and fuzzy.
We all have memories of where we’ve come from, the people in our lives, and all the beautiful experiences that have shaped us into who we are today. This track feels a beautiful callback acknowledging the above in the most wonderous, sincerest of ways.
Palm Lakes is the creation of Brit brothers, Tim & Ian Hardwick. They’ve created a sound that soars above, powered by lush, rich synth sounds. You can’t help but feel nostalgic about the retro sensibilities in this track’s production. But it does not linger in the past, instead, it majestically emerges from that into a modern, expansive soundscape with the brothers singing loud and proud – ‘Ever the river runs, Everything I’ve Ever Loved surrounds me now..’. It’s a beautiful moment, like seeing the sun rise over a majestic valley. Even from there, the arrangement settles in an emotionally warm and welcoming way, while never feeling forced. One of the standout moments is the euphoric guitar solo around 3 mins in, which feels like it comes out of nowhere but adds that touch of class and grandeur.
The vocal harmonies between the brothers are breathtaking. It harkens back to the glory days of boy bands, but this is so much more evolved. Their delivery is sincere and intimate, adding great depth and texture to the overall feel. Lyrically, it’s heart-warming and feels like a conversation between close friends and family. If you loved the pop music movement in the 80s and 90s, you will fall head over heels for ‘Palm Lakes – Everything I’ve Ever Loved’. It might just become your new guilty pleasure.
In days when sentimentality is taken for granted, this track wears its lion-sized heart on its sleeve. It’s a song that sincerely means what it says and says what it means.
