Indie Rockers Phyto deliver electrifying, electro rap rock release, “Like Poles”
The exciting new South Korean rock group Phyto makes a statement with an in-your-face kind of energy, blending the aggression of rap, rock and nu metal with the laidback funk groove of blues. Think RHCP meets RATM with Limp Bizkit ! It makes for a thoroughly entertaining, get-outta-your-chair kinda vibe!
Like something straight out of a simulation, the track opens with that fated coin making it into the slot. The game comes to life and how! Alien-sounding effects hit you jarringly before wailing distortions converge into a riff. Hypnotically builds into the opening verse. Whimsical and chaotic, the verse builds, delivered in rap vocals that bemuse.
The tension builds through the pre-chorus, as Phyto swerves into dark territory. Rather dramatically and with much pomp and retro funk flair, we’re lauched into the chorus, with blaring rap shouts flowing to the pulsating groove.
Speaking of groove, the drum work on this track is astounding. He’s able to generate a tremendous amount of momentum, and funk brings a fantastic order to the delicious chaos unfolding here. As does the gripping, relentless riff progressions.
‘Like Poles’ has so much good going for it! Firstly, its refreshingly original and packed with energy and intent. But that’s not all. At the 2-min mark, the track takes a pause and swerves into swelling blues-rock arrangements. With sheer rebellion and raucousness, they burst through onto a wild, chaotic outro.
Phyto impresses with their ambitious punk rock energy and we look forward to hearing a lot more from them!
