Prem Byrne’s latest is a soothing, enlightening alt-pop ballad, ‘Love Is Blind’!

They say hindsight is 20/20, and Prem Byrne takes that adage one step further, combining it with another age-old saying, ‘Love Is Blind’. He shares his lived experiences with attraction and infatuation and the risks that come with falling for someone. Spontaneity comes at the cost of caution & reliability. And all you’re left with after, is reflecting on ‘Maybe next time…’

The track itself exudes a soothing, George Harrison-esque charm and smoothness. Much like Craig David’s ‘Seven Days’, “Love Is Blind’ soothes and relaxes you with soft strums, exotic percussions, calming flute interludes and a rainstick for even more cooling.

Prem’s voice, soft and reflective, begins to describe vividly his tale of a love that perhaps burnt too bright. The lyrics paint a painfully relatable situationship, one that initiates over first looks at a party and a magical evening shared. His delicate yet down-to-earth storytelling and sharing style has you leaning in and listening, wistfully swaying along to the evocative pop arrangements.

‘Love Is Blind’ smoothly emphasizes through its lyrics that sometimes, that initial attraction is just that, temporary and certainly not something that endures. Soon, the very eye contact and small things that brought you together are what vanish the earliest; there are definite signs that this was never meant to last. The track breaks this hard-lived truth in a soft, sympathetic manner.

The crucial parting lesson Prem leaves you with is to remember that if you’re seeking validation and worthiness in another, you’re always destined to be disappointed. Only you can do it for yourself. So, sit back chill and groove to this stirring pop track and maybe you’l learn the lesson, ‘Love Is Blind’!
