princess melia shares a compelling, evocative, debut electro-pop opus ‘Care!

Armed with a sultry, smoky voice, Melia delivers a performance that is is emotionally charged but equally powerful. Adding to this are euphoric house, edgy electro-pop, and subtle R&B undertones. Its a banger of a combination, one fit for dimly lit dance floors and moments of intense heartbreak-driven catharsis.

The track opens with airy synth notes, drawing us into a meditative space, until Melia’s voice comes through, pained, vulnerable:

“You’re sleeping beside me, but we’re miles apart.

Im done screaming my emotions into the void known as your heart.”

The lyrics convey hurt, sadness, anger, and betrayal, but most of all, they express a finality of not wanting any more of this BS. This is a track about dealing with unrequited love and arriving at a place of much-needed closure to move on from this toxic person. The lyrics continue to unravel like the threads of a dying connection. The star of this performance is deservedly Melia’s vocals. She hits that sweet spot between pain and power, showing us both sides of her heart. Layered vocals of her falsettos and repeated vocal loops make this an immersive listening experience.

Musically, it grips you with the smooth transitions and heart-stopping drops. Around the 2 min mark, the track builds anticipation fantastically before descending into a bass-thumping drop with her vocals echoing from all sides, surrounding you in a sonic cocoon of her pained expression. The track concludes in surprisingly peaceful fashion with light strings leading the way as it fades to dark.
