Proklaim is a solo music project by British-born, Namibia based rapper Birungi Alexander Kiremire. The artist has been consistently releasing music since 2018 and have over the past 6 years built up an extensive discography of singles and Eps.  His latest single “Panthera” is a lengthy hip-hop track packed to its brim with bars!

The track starts off immediately, hitting the listener straight away with bars by Proklaim along with the bass heavy sample, without leaving much room for a build up on the instrumentation. The 808 beat dominates the track with its hard-hitting bass. The trap adjacent sample is heavy and drags itself out in a lean manner while Proklaim and his sharp vocal performance stands in juxtaposition to the same.

The song writing on the track is filled with daily affirmations which doesn’t reach very far away from the genre Proklaim usually writes within.  It emphasises progress on “Another day”. He reminds us using the device of repetition that “The devil is working overtime” which could be interpreted as the strength of the forces working against you, in which case one has to constantly prove oneself. We could also interpret Proklaim as the devil himself who is working overtime! The clever wordplay that allows for multiple interpretations has always been the artist’s strength.

“Panthera” is the most conventional hip-hop track the Proklaim has put out that sounds adjacent to all the great popular hip-hop music out there! When you are in the mood for some hard core hip-hop, make sure to hit play on this track:
