PTHFNDR’s second release of the year, ‘Lines End’ is a gripping, emotional prog rock piece that emphasizes finally breaking free of all that was holding him down.

The artist known as PTHFNDR, is known for crafting intense, powerful prog rock music. Channeling his struggles into captivating, emotionally deep vocals that explore the complicated facets of the human condition. He’s heavily influenced by djent and post-hardcore rock genres. Incorporating intricate guitars, groovy slap bass lines, and pinpoint drum rhythms together to create a sound that is somewhere between Opeth & Nine Inch Nails.

‘Lines End’ opens with scathing, almost unbearable shimmers that flow into this brooding, brilliantly dark, melancholic arrangement. The opening lines convey a realization of all that was wrong and the reason behind all the pain and suffering.

PTHFNDR roars to life in the chorus:

“This is where the line ends / The cycle won’t repeat / When there are things to say then / From now on I will speak.”

Then, we’re treated a short but brilliant instrumental section, thats where we really get a taste of PTHFNDR’s technical prowess and vision. Next, the intensity is dialled up a few notches, the vocals and instrumentation are searing with held-in anger and resentment.

“You’ve lied your way / To your own truth / Treat me like something / To be disused.”

Looping back to the chorus for the final time, “Lines End” approaches its conclusion with a sort of detachment from the previous object of his hate and anger. Now, the lines are drawn, and they can’t cause any more pain. It ends abruptly, leaving that final word hanging in silence, unspoken but understood.

“PTHFNDR – Lines End” is a brilliant production with deeply intricate instrumentation, smart, vibrant transitions, and cathartic lyrics. Use this as a tool to rid yourself of all that holds you down..
