Quality Living is an indie-rock band that has been releasing music since 2017, building up what is an extensive discography of singles and Eps. They are known for their idiosyncratic production and ironic name. Their latest 4 track Ep titled “Aggro Crag” starts off with a single with the same title and is proof of the attention to detail they pay to their tracks.

The track starts off with ambient sounds from what sounds like a park. The wind is blowing, people are talking and dogs are barking before some colourful production hits the listener’s ears. I enjoyed how once the bass, acoustic strings and intricate percussion kick in, the ambient sounds don’t end but continue to be a part of the track, blending in seamlessly. The track is filled with many other interesting production choices like the auto-tuned vocals towards the end!

The lead vocals are layered and trippy although I personally wished that it was mixed in a manner that gave it more prominence. However, if the subdued vocals are an intentional creative choice, then the idea of a lot of elements coming together to form a melting pot of sounds is brought successfully to fruition. The very chill track has some beautiful strings sneak up on you among some brashy synths and very soft and pretty sonic palettes.

The tune writing is avantgarde and well thought out. I liked how the band’s playful side is constantly reflected in their work. Quality Living deserves more attention and ears. Synth-Rock is right up my alley and if it your cup of tea too, make sure to check out “Aggro Crag” here:
