She has been releasing music since 2016 and has eight singles under her belt, with her latest release being the 2024 single, “Weeds”.

“Weeds” starts off with the sound of birds chirping, foreshadowing all the references to nature the song constructs itself around. While the keys are initially rather bright, the track quickly shifts to a much darker sonic palette. The instrumentation on the single is intense and minimal, placing Reina Mora and her vocal performance as the central element. Reina Mora’s voice is strong and captivating; her bass-leaning vocal tones are extremely refreshing to listen to!

The percussion stays urgent but doesn’t ever become heavy and the fact that it sounds like a heartbeat might be a reference to the feelings of the songwriter. We witness all the instrumentation along with angelic back-up vocals come together in a climatic fashion during the last chorus.

The songwriting explores dark themes and compares heartbreak very closely with nature. The feeling of being used and abandoned are looked into in depth. A sense of loss, not of a relationship but of oneself due to all that one had “poured” into it is one of the main motifs of the track. There is a satisfaction of seeing the other person stagnate while you have found yourself again albeit after many hardships that is hinted at towards the end of the track.
