Prog Rock duo Roar Idle takes us on a sublime journey with ‘Sailing In My Mind’.

The London-based duo of Ro Arora on vocals/guitars and Olly Massey on drums and bass are back with their second full-length album, ‘Sailing In My Mind’ establishing themselves over an excellent 9 track record. Former member and bassist Adam Kingsley made significant contributions on several tracks in the first half of this album.

The title track makes a strong first impression with warm, groovy electric guitar textures and an emotional intensity and immersiveness you’d associate with the likes of great prog rock acts like Radiohead, Porcupine Tree and Muse.

What’s amply clear is Roar Idle’s ample musical ability and storytelling excellence in the way they draw you into their full-bodied sound.

‘Sailing in my mind’ opens onto warm, intimate guitar strums, expanding into the soulful opening verse.

‘Im sailing in my mind, in a garden of sublime…..’ Ro sings tenderly, inviting listeners to experience a fluid, psychedelic state of mind.

There’s a remarkable restraint and purpose Roar Idle infuse their arrangements with, making you lean and listen closer. Its a heady mix of alternative, blues and psychedelia that will have you seeing stars. And waves, and an array of dreamy scenes. Something straight out of a Van Gogh painting.

As the track pulses and flows forward, their performance grows more fevered and deepening. As they loop through slow-burning, hypnotic verses and driving rock rhythms, Roar Idle has us transfixed and feeling pleasantly numb.

Right now our minds are gravitating in one direction, that of to listening to the rest of their latest album, ‘Sailing In My Mind’ next!
