Lose yourself into Roxy Rawson’s sublime, powerful chamber folk opus, ‘I found a place in the woods’
After an extended break from music due to illness, British-born Roxy makes a stunning return with her latest, ‘I found a place in the woods’, a rallying cry for love, space, renewal and healing.
We open onto playful, folksy arrangements. Shakers and Roxy’s soft vocalizations ride freely upon subtle yet deep atmospherics that build gradually with fantastic effect, leading us into the opening lines.
Roxy captivates us immediately with her honest, angelic delivery. ‘I found a place in the woods, it was mine….’. Her vocal range blows you away as the track progresses, laden with deep emotional vulnerability and intensity. It’s the kind of soul-baring courage that only come from lived experiences. One of picking yourself up from crushing heartbreak and beginning the rebuild of your life, a piece at a time.
There’s little doubt that Roxy’s spellbinding vocals are the star of ‘I found a place in the woods’. Yet, its the superbly alt-folk arrangements, produced by acclaimed composer and orchestrator Jherek Bischoff, that really elevate the track to a whole new level. Its a soundscape that really makes you feel like you’re right there, in mystical woodlands, being serenaded by the sounds of the forest and Roxy’s luminous voice.
Over its 4.20 runtime, the track takes us through beautifully composed & produced arrangements that are emotional, startling & stirring throughout. It keeps you pleasantly surprised and intrigued with the use of folky instruments, structured expertly between her stunning verses. It’s the soundtrack to a magical forest experience and the unforgettable sound of an artist who’s overcome a lot and is now gloriously emerging from the ashes, reborn, inspired and bright!
We love what we’ve heard from this eclectic artist, Roxy Rawson and are thrilled to learn that this release is a preview of her upcoming 2026 album Bright Star! Keep a look out for that.
