Nick Mecir, aka Saint Nick the Lesser delivers a stunning, soul-stirring indie rock confessional, ’21 Minutes’ that screams honesty, resilience, and survival.

It’s one of the few songs out there today that comes from an honest, gut-wrenching place, tackling an urgent issue of mental health and personal harm, baring it all in an immersive, enacted music video.

The track video kicks off with Nick on the floor, scribbling messages on white sheets of paper. As he stands up with his message in hand, uplifting acoustic guitar strums sound out, and his sincere, vulnerable voice narrates the events of that fateful day when he’d had enough –

“I spent 21 minutes standing over my sink, bathroom door locked, hands open, palms up, a razor blade next to me – I’d had enough”

Its deeply personal and a brave way to start his musical confession. It’s apparent that this isn’t just another song; it’s a sharing of a singular significant moment in this person’s journey, teetering between life and death.
The playful, folksy interlude instrumentation, in stark contrast to Nick’s lyrics, gives us space to absorb the gravity of his words and notice the messages of regret and sadness people are writing and posting up on the wall. Its a collage of all the reasons why people choose personal harm. The lyrics get more dark as Nick describes in excruciating detail the experience he went through right up to the point when he faded into the oblivion, and they ‘broke the door down and carried him away’…
The turning point comes two minutes in when Nick, reflecting on his life after the fateful day, emphasizes with a smile ‘I guarantee that…. Nothing ever stays the same’. It’s a compelling transition with the message speaking loud and clear, ‘Dont do it’. The instrumentation, same as earlier, has only slightly picked up tempo, yet it feels so much more urgent and compelling. In the video, people are now tearing down messages of the wall, with a smile, signifying a cathartic release as they come to terms with their own existence.

The track ends softly with Nick sharing how he looked into that very same mirror and reminded himself that he’s more than enough. Meanwhile, messages of self-love and affirmations cover every inch of the canvas behind him.

Saint Nick the Lesser – 21 Minutes is compelling, creative, and authentic and deserves to be shared far and wide with someone who needs to hear it!
