‘Sapphire Eclipse – Prisoner’ is a melancholic, moody, vindictive, angry cry masquerading as a blistering prog rock anthem. As the second track from their 5-song EP, Sapphire Eclipse proves that they mean business and that their music takes no prisoners!

The musical arrangement is dark and immersive. We will start with the soulful guitar sections that give us the same kind of shivers as Metallica’s Unforgiven did. The lead guitarist – A. Sakalli’s piercing lead guitar sections complement the drummer Osman Turkmen(Ozzy)’s thunderous drum beats perfectly. Not since Opeth have we heard a musical arrangement so tight and in sync with each other. The lead guitar solo in the second half is a standout and worth listening to on repeat. There is something so visceral, pure, and compelling about the magnificent guitar and drum arrangements on display here.

Vocalist & songwriter Maria Geo’s performance is also a shining light. Her vocal range is special. She starts in a soft tone with the first verse –  ‘In the haunted house, Where the shadows live…’ and in the chorus, it’s soaring, commanding, determined, and conveys deep emotion. The lyrics are inspired by her own experiences of feeling stuck in those vicious cycles and being unable to break through. Being a prisoner of such situations, in various aspects of life. Something we all can relate to.

‘Sapphire Eclipse – Prisoner’ is a smoky, bare-it-all, confessional that holds nothing back in its expression. Every aspect of this track, from the scorching guitars to the thunderous drums, and of course, the immersive lyrics and vocals, combine effortlessly to create an experience that touches the deepest, darkest parts of your soul.

If you’ve ever felt like a prisoner to your own or someone else’s life, this is a vindictive affirmation that you can break through the chains that hold you down.
