Scared of Sharks is a band from Mogareeka, Australia who primarily work within the genres of Punk and Rock’n’Roll. They were formed in 2016 by brothers Taylor Shwifty and Jack Malolakis and have been releasing music since 2021. Joined by Drummer Tim Jong Un and Bassist Loui Crouton in 2022 the band currently has five singles under their belt including their latest release “Stumble”.

The guitar that starts the track off has a fast-strumming pattern and a pace that is urgent. The addition of high-pitched news and screeching radio sounds is a clever and interesting touch that brings much variation in my opinion. The guitars are grungy and intentionally chaotic while the percussion forms the backbone of the track and keeps up the high-energy throughout. The instrumentation knows when to take its pauses in order to play with intensity.

The vocal performance by Scared of Sharks is robot-adjacent and unique in a really enjoyable way. Although outside of scale at times, the band takes its rough edges and quirks seriously and effortlessly turns them into strengths. The layering of backup vocals is done well in my opinion. I particularly enjoyed the guitar solo during the bridge that was really rhythmic, cathartic and almost villainous, making it my favourite part of the track.

I sincerely look forward to all the music that Scared of the Sharks have coming our way. If you are looking to add an energetic track to your rock playlists, make sure to check out “Stumble” by Scared of Sharks here:
