This sleek, dark electronic soundscape is much deeper than it first appears. Hypnotic rhythms, excellent driving basslines, subtle melodic arrangements, and gritty, poetic and philosophical rap rock vocals make it a killer, 150-second track to lose yourself in.
We open onto dramatic, synth tones, heavy hypnotic basslines, layered expertly. It’s an immersive, cinematic opening that immediately puts you in the epicentre of a sonic supernova. The vocal, intense, and breathless begin to flow at a frantic pace. Paired with an intriguing melodic tone, the rap flow is abstract, conversational, improvisational and fairly unhinged; it feels compelling af.
The vibe of the track feels futuristic, commanding, rebellious, and downright free-spirited. The use of heavy basslines is absolutely fantastic, its one of the best we’ve heard in a while. It balances the entire opus with its incredibly funky and groovy notes. Of course, the other electronic song elements in play are spectacular too, but somehow it’s that bassline that really keeps you invested fully.
From start to finish, it’s clear that SHY.COMFY.DENSE isn’t here to play safe. They’ve come armed with a purpose. To shake us free of hopelessness, depression, and lack of purpose. With their debut release, ‘Straydog’ making such a strong first impression, you’d definitely wouldn’t want to take them for granted. We look forward to hearing a lot more from this eclectic artist.
