Slow Down Riley (SDR) release hard hitting, anthemic rock opus ‘Waste Of Time’.
Its a explosive expression of finally taking no more BS, no more apologies and wasting time on someone who doesn’t deserve you. The track blazes with the fire of getting over a heartbreak in the most awesome, empowering way possible. German rockers SDR channelise that 2000s punk rock sound with blistering riffs, thuderous drums, intense vocals and a seemlingly endless energy.
This is a group that are in perfect sync, every element of their performance blazes with precision and passion. The track opens with intriguing astral notes, speeding into a manic synth section with echoing vocals before exploding to life magnificnetly. The opening vocals, fiery and vindictive, leave no moment wasted, armed with a blistering arrangement that moves at a rapid tempo.
This is a track that moves at a frantic, yet controlled pace & tempo. Its a sign of a group at the top of their game. Able to push themselves to the abolute limit, then reign it back briefly before going at full titt again. The introduction of a short verse in Italian is surprising addition, yet doesn’t feel outta place at all.
The lyrics convey an intense, journeying range of emotions. Frustration from not being wanted. Vulnerability of feeling alone. A timely acceptance of what needs to be done and finally a sublime moment of catharsis, finally being rid of this toxic connection.
Lines like “You don’t want me / The way I want you / It doesn’t matter / Whatever I do” are universally relatable for anyone whose ever been in an one sided relationship and needs to get out it, at all costs.
SDR blaze through this punk rock performance with the swagger and confidence that tells us they got a lot more to deliver.
