The Killing Tapes was formed in 2020 by Marcus Crede (Kreatur and others) and Peter Svensson (Mary Celeste, Hello Heartland). The duo specialize in melancholy, using alt rock and electronic instruments to discover the many languages of the feeling. Using original 80s and 90s synths (KORG M1, M3, Wavestation, MS20, Yamaha PSR), they craft ruminative and abstract complexities that can only be experienced. In their latest album, Falling Down (Blue), The Killing Tapes partially collaborate with singer Charlie Linnell on their track Shortwave. And is mixed by creative sound and mixing engineer, Niels Nielsen.
The track is built with a free flowing suspense and mystery, indicative of a deeper reservoir of emotion. Monotonal synth pulses and cymbal accents frame Charlie’s dark vocals. Its floating fabric is doused in cool undertones whilst simultaneously pierced by luminous sound particles. Shadows and light dance to the sounds from the past. And with metallic sonics sweeping past the gloomy synth sky, the song evokes a feeling of pungent clairvoyance.
The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
