The song itself is a glorious, lush indie rock sound, channeling the raw emotion from the confessional. Rayland’s voice is soulful, touching, and emotional. It’s heart-stirring in a Bryan Adams kind of way. Beautifully layered acoustic guitar rhythms, a haunting melody, steady drums, and Rayland’s soaring vocals, layered at different pitches. At almost 5 minutes runtime, the song moves at an unhurried tempo, with sufficient room for the emotion behind the song to unfold gracefully.
Rayland does justice to the gravity of the confessional through his lyrics. It expresses a deep grief and sadness over the loss of the woman’s loved ones. He perfectly captures the emotions of the woman’s mindset, having to go through such a tragic, traumatic episode. His voice drips with sincerity and sadness. A standout, compelling section of the track is from the 3:30 min mark, where his vocals really take flight; it’s compelling and heartfelt and had this listener in tears. The track beautifully maintains its poise and grace before satisfactorily concluding, leaving you emotionally shaken and touched.
